UFC superstar Nate Diaz has officially been offered a shot at a UFC title belt. Nate who hasn’t fought since losing an extremely close majority decision to Conor McGregor has another super fight lined up. UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz spoke with ESPN about the situation. Check it out.
“I’m getting to the point where I’m sick of not fighting. I’m not getting any younger, I put that tweet out saying I wanted to fight in May or June, but I didn’t say who because I was weighing my options. And now, Woodley is my best option. “I see him on TMZ every week, talking about me. I’m like, ‘What the f—? If that’s what you want to do.’ It’s not really my weight class, but I’m with it. I think it’s my title we’re fighting for. If he’s the one calling me out, whose title are we fighting for? Who’s the real champion here?”
“I’d like a good two or three-month camp, We’ll figure it out. There’s definitely going to be something. I’m trying to fight.” “They called me out of nowhere, when I wasn’t trying to fight nobody, They asked if I would fight Woodley and I said, “Well, I’d like a three-month camp.’
“I told them I’d fight him on shorter notice, but would send them what I wanted in the contract. It was nothing out of the norm. My boxing coach said something about $15 million in an interview, but that was never the number. “Then I saw in the media, the UFC said they never approached me about it. I was like, ‘F— it then. I wasn’t the one asking for the fight.'”
“He’s just living his life right now and he’s got a magnifying glass on him, whatever he’s doing, I don’t give a f— what he does. “I’m sure he’s up and down. ‘Do I want to be in these lights? Why am I not in these lights? I need to get in the lights. I need to get out of the lights.’ It’s a crazy roller coaster.”
“In four weeks? No. I wouldn’t fight him. If we’re fighting, I’m pretty sure it would have to be for my belt. Now, if they want me to fight him at a catchweight, not a title fight, I’m gonna have to drop to my knees and make a prayer to the most high for something like that.”
“At this point in my career, if it’s a fight that’s not for my belt, I’m willing to step out of the box and do some different things.” “Do I think Nate will fight me? Yes, for the right amount of money and the right time in history, I do, Is it a good fight for him? No. I’m a lot faster. I punch a lot harder. I can take him down. He’s not going to submit me. That said, it’s not a good fight for him. So, they have to make it up to him in dollars and cents.”
“I just want to do something that’s going to push me forward career-wise or push my legacy, I need both. I need super fights and I need to continue to knock off these rising contenders. I’ve been fighting the best of the best since Strikeforce. It’s not like I’m asking for anything that I haven’t paid my dues for. I had to earn this position the hard way.”
